About St. George, Utah

St. George, Utah

St. George is located in the southwest corner of the state. When most people think of Utah, they think of the Rocky Mountains. The northern part of the state has ski resorts, snowy winters, the Utah Jazz, and the Sundance Film Festival. St. George, however, is in the same climate zone as Las Vegas. We have sagebrush, red rock plateaus, and the towering cliffs of Zion National Park.

Zion National Park
We are the high desert. We average 6 to 10 inches of rain per year and most of it falls in the form of a double monsoon in midwinter and midsummer. Snow is scarce - it might fall into the 20s overnight in the winter, but then it warms to the 50s during the day. During the summer it is common to reach the triple digits, sometimes even hitting 115 or 120.

Our biggest industry is tourism. Besides Zion National Park, we also have Snow Canyon State Park and the Red Rock Desert Reserve Wilderness Area. We host the St. George Marathon, the Huntsman World Senior Games, and the Ironman Triathlon. We are a scenic 3-hour drive from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and only 1 1/2 hours from Las Vegas. We have the art museums of Springdale and Kayenta. And if you are looking for blue skies, we are the place for you.
